With the first half of the year coming to a close, it is a natural time for us at PAL to look back and evaluate how we are doing, what has been working, and who has been making it happen. So when we chatted about our Volunteer of the Quarter, we noticed that one person in particular stood out as someone who was always working hard to make it all happen! From literacy events, to mentoring groups, CCSO Deputy Albin Boyse is a constant positive presence to our youth and we are happy to say he has been chosen as our Volunteer of the Quarter!
Deputy Boyse has been actively involved with PAL for over four years, and as a school resource officer at Columbia River High School he is already working with teens and youth all day long. This makes it that much special that he takes extra time to then participate in PAL Programs. He can be seen at pretty much every single one of our literacy events, chatting with students and often touring the Sheriff’s Office Bearcat. That’s one vehicle to be darn proud of and youth love it when they get to peek inside!
This past year, Deputy Boyse even increased his volunteer presence as he is now a well-received mentor with our middle school Prospere group at Gaiser Middle School. Prospere is a monthly group that discusses what it means to be successful; teens drive the topics and mentors, like Deputy Boyse, engage them in conversation around their chosen topics. Now, topics can be anything from getting a job to fighting with parents, so this is not an easy role to take on with middle school students as you can imagine! But truly it’s a perfect fit for Boyse, he does an incredible job connecting with the teens in that group and the conversations they have are leaving a lasting impression on the students involved.
Albin Boyse is absolutely a deputy that reminds us how incredible our law enforcement is. Once his job is done, he still continues to going above and beyond in his duties to his community. He is out thre always supporting our local youth; empowering and encouraging them to make positive life choices and chase their dreams of success. We at PAL are blessed by his time and commitment, Deputy Boyse is making it happen! Thank you so much!
